The next stop on our adventures will take us to gold country, where there is more gold lost than has ever been found. It’s the stuff of legends, and there are still plenty of gold hunters out looking for it. We will be taking a peek into one of those old mines, along with the ghost town that surrounds it. Whether we find any gold, or not is still a mystery, but we have no doubt we will encounter a few “divine appointments” along the way.   And collecting some curiosities and souvenirs, too.

It’s still not too late to join the Mystery Tour (you can jump in any time). Then you can come along with the Captain and I, as we continue to travel off  the beaten path, to bring you greetings from places like: the Rocky Mountains, Alaska, Australia, California, Arizona, and back home. So, if you would like to go “armchair traveling” with us, be sure to get your ticket over at my...

ARMCHAIR TRAVELERS

page

This will give you a key to the portal  where we will share weekly updates from our travel journals, along with videos of our adventures. You will also be able to pray with us, as well as share some of your own advice and opinions that could effect our travels along the way. Remember, if you can’t get away, yourselves, dear readers, “armchair traveling” is the next best thing. And we would love to have you along! Be sure to keep an eye on this page for location updates, too.

What’s the mystery?

I am calling this a mystery tour because, not only will  we be adventuring through mysterious places, but we will be on the trail of some divine appointments the Lord has lined up for us, as well. We will also be sharing a few glimpses of times which are no longer within easy reach. Then, again, maybe they are. But I always like to leave those judgements up to others.

At least that’s how it felt when I embarked on the “virtual voyage” aboard the Titanic (exactly one hundred years later). I interviewed passengers and crew members of that ill-fated voyage as a reporter for the New York World (circa 1912). How so? At the gracious invitation of Janice Hanna Thompson, and friends, who are celebrating the release of her newest novel QUEEN OF THE WAVES. What an honor, and what fun... thank you, Janice! If you would like to read those articles, you can find them over on my Travels With Lilly Blog.

Where to next?

The Captain and I are packing up to head for the Rocky Mountains, on the trail of some of that lost gold and legends I was telling you about. It’s no secret that I have a chronic case of gold fever, and can never pass these sort of things up. I admit they occasionally get us into some very sticky predicaments, but that’s half the fun of adventuring. And, so far, we have always made our way back.

After that, it’s up to our cabin in Alaska, for a bit of berry-picking, gold panning, and some good times with friends and family. Some of our most hair-raising encounters seem to happen when we are home (mostly because of the wildlife, and the Captain’s propensity for remote locations). So don’t miss any those adventures, either.

But the highlight of our travels, this year, will be our first-ever trip “down under,” to that magnificent continent of Australia. Toowoomba, is where we will be staying with our dearest friends from my own First Readers Club, Fay and Ken. Together, we will explore what is rumored to be some of the most mysterious places on earth. And, of course, those not-to-be-missed gold mines. Are you seeing a pattern here?

As we head back toward home, there will be a brief stop in Hollywood, to research some of the deserted old mansions that used to belong to famous stars of the “golden era.” This for a book I should be well into by that time, but more on that, later. Be sure not to miss the video logs from this segment of the trip, as they promise to be the stuff of... well, that’s all I’m going to say about that at this time, too.

Our final destination, before we return home, is a trip to the amazing “sky islands” of southern Arizona. Truly, one of the most mysterious places you will ever see. Swathed in legends and ghosty portals where you can still catch a glimpse of frontier times, when some people risked all they had for a mere chance at finding a bit of treasure that someone else had lost.

Would you go a hundred miles more?

There you have it, dear readers, the schedule as it has taken shape, so far. A flexible one, because we always have to leave room for those divine appointments. Who knows, we might even have one scheduled with you! So, if you find yourself within a hundred miles of any of our destinations... let me know! We will set up a rendezvous, so we can meet with you. Any group over ten, we will bring along our “traveling show.”
