<![CDATA[Inspirational Adventure Novelist - Let's Pray!]]>Thu, 25 May 2023 13:35:01 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[First Things]]>Tue, 04 Feb 2020 18:49:22 GMThttp://lillymaytree.com/lets-pray/first-thingsPictureMy morning view.
Sometimes the things that take the longest time to establish end up being the most important. Distractions settle in, or stuff that "just has to be done" gets in the way. By the time we come back to it--either by stumbling over it or searching on purpose--we wonder what it was we were trying to do in the first place.

So, I am here, today, dusting things off. As I do, the old sparkle begins to shine through the window, again, and I start to feel the peace of the place without really looking for it. Sort of a tap on the shoulder, you might say. Oh, yes...now, I remember...

How good it is to think about all the wonderful things the Lord does to "bring our sparkle back," too. Memories cause a feeling of warmth or even a smile to rise up. Something refreshing about being here, I suppose. Rather like a mostly quiet coffee in the morning with someone you love that turns out being one of the best parts of your day. That little piece of identity that lingers throughout the afternoon and reminds you every once in a while who you are. Somewhere along the way it becomes a piece of the strong cloth from which you are cut. The kind that holds you in place just right, no matter where the day takes you.

This morning I'm thinking that this is prayer.

And of how important first things are.

Blessings on the rest of your day!

<![CDATA[Still Here...]]>Tue, 17 Apr 2018 17:28:25 GMThttp://lillymaytree.com/lets-pray/still-herePictureLiberty
It has been a long time since I have come to the prayer chapel but I have never stopped praying. It has been a long time since I have posted my thoughts here but I have not stopped thinking. I have been on a very long journey and gone thousands of miles. In fact, I have been gone so long I no longer have a home to go back to. But I don't seem to care as much about such things anymore.

Instead, I am--if you can believe it--still gripped with every part of my being by this adventure we have set out on. This thing that grows larger and more compelling every day, so much so that I cannot look away from it. And now, another long sailing voyage ahead that will take energy and much prayer and a, "Chin up, old girl!" lecture to myself even to set out on it. Which seems to be what it takes to do anything after one reaches a certain age.

Would you like to join us? You are invited to come along. In fact, we need you! For all those times the seas are too choppy or the wind is too strong, or when all those long lovely turns at the wheel fill one's mind full to bursting with glorious thoughts and there is no one else awake to talk them over with. I will come here during those times. Maybe you and I can still visit and pray together now that we live in an age when time and distance no longer exist, and it truly is possible to connect with each other at any moment. Yes, I will enjoy that!

We are leaving Ventura Harbor, California aboard the 46' sailboat Liberty, on May 8th, headed north toward Seattle, praying for fair winds and following seas all the way. Which I am told is quite impossible along this route. Then again, it has been my experience that there is nothing--absolutely nothing--that is impossible with God, so it should be quite interesting. We will also be signing on a crew of prayer partners who will commit to praying for us whenever we come to mind, or jotting a comment now and again if they would like. Your name will be entered in the ship's log and we will keep you updated on our activities whenever Internet service is possible.

Many thanks and blessings to you in advance and to all who stop by just to see!

<![CDATA[Chapel in the Wilderness...]]>Thu, 19 Mar 2015 22:41:02 GMThttp://lillymaytree.com/lets-pray/chapel-in-the-wildernessPicture
Welcome to this new place where I can share more of the many wonderful things the Lord is doing on our grand adventure! Not only in our lives, but in so many of the interesting places and people we meet, as well.

Now, we will be able to share in more detail about the "divine appointments" we encounter, little spotlights on people who have touched our hearts and are working in the Lord's Kingdom, today, and even some of the things the Captain and I are discovering about our own adventures in prayer. From time to time, I may even share highlights from some of the exciting Bible studies we are involved in.

But our little "Chapel in the Wilderness" is also a place where you can join in. What started with a Prayer List that the Captain and I prayed over every day, grew to include so many wonderful answers, we don't want to lose touch with any of these special people. If you would like to join us in prayer, just click on the Prayer List button at the top of this page for a peek at the current list.

Meanwhile, feel free to comment, add your name to the list (there's a box on the sidebar, for that), or just come here to check on what's happening in our spiritual journeys, lately. I'm so glad you decided to stop by!
